The Old fashioned English chicken stew is the easiest chicken stew recipe you can make. Chicken, potatoes, carrots slow cooked in a buttery milk broth infused with aromatic sage.

Ingredients
  • Chicken - 500 gms with skin
  • Potato - 1 diced
  • Carrots - 1 diced
  • Onion - 1 diced
  • Garlic - 6-7 cloves
  • Peppercorns - 10-12
  • Butter - 50g
  • Milk - 500 ml
  • Sage - fresh or dried - 2 teaspoons
  • Zest of half a lime
  • Seasoning
Instructions
  1. Sprinkle salt & pepper on chicken and keep aside for 5 minutes
  2. In a heavy bottom pan heat butter.
  3. Sear the chicken pieces for a few minutes and keep aside.
  4. In the same butter add peppercorns, garlic, onions and saute
  5. Add the vegetables and saute for 3 minutes.
  6. Add chicken pieces to the vegetables.
  7. Pour milk and mix.
  8. Add sage. and seasoning.
  9. Cover and cook for 45-50 minutes
